Eye shadow palettes are an easy, convenient way of storing loads of eye shadows to save on space. Sleek’s palettes are probably the…sleekest little packages of eye shadows out there. There’s only one problem: they all look the same! At a glance, you can’t tell one black palette from the next. Sure, they now print the name of the palette on the front lid, but’s it’s in the lower right hand corner. It’s not always easy to read when you are quickly searching a certain palette amongst the other six or seven, especially if you store them back to back or on shelves.
Solution: get crafty with the cardboard packaging of the palettes, a pair of scissors and transparent tape! In the photo you see above, I simply cut out the front cover of the packaging and measured it against the dimensions of the Sleek palette to which it belongs. I then added transparent tape to the back and voila, an easy way to distinguish between my growing collection of Sleek eye shadow palettes.
As for the plastic insert on which the eye shadow names are printed? They are a godsend for those of us who do FOTDs, but the name inserts are flimsy and can get in the way. I tape those to the mirror also using transparent tape. Use as little tape as possible, and you can still have functioning use of the mirror. (But I gather that most of you don’t use the mirror or the sponge applicators (they actually apply the shadows quite well) that come inside the palettes.) This way, you won’t get the plastic inserts mixed up and they won’t get in your way. Simples, right?
Try it out and let me know how you get on!
